Find a car: Electric vehicles 'to grow in popularity' in 2011

More motorists are set to become aware of the appeal of electric cars this year.
Drivers who are looking to find a new car in 2011 have been told that this year is going to be a big one for green vehicles.
This is according to Neil Wallis, head of communications at the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, who believes that these types of motors "will certainly grow", as the year progresses.
He also noted that Brits hoping to find a car will take more notice of electric motors, though the expert admitted that sales are not going to be huge, as prices are still on the more expensive side for some buyers.
However, Mr Wallis added: "The driving of green and emissions-saving cars go hand-in-hand with good cost savings from things like reducing fuel use to taxes."
The Nissan Leaf has been leading the way for the arrival of electric cars, when it recently won Car of the Year 2011.
It is the first time that a full-electric vehicle has taken the honour, narrowly beating off the Alfa Romeo Giulietta by nine points.
